Finding your way around Photoshop
Figure 2-4 shows the Photoshop window without any of the toolbars. The image window shows the entire image (the Layer panel is visible at the bottom-right corner). Here you can work with layers, adjust the image, and add effects to different parts of your image.

1. Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur
Convert a blurred background to a pattern
The Effects panel is located in the bottom right of Photoshop Elements. The Effects panel contains several built-in filters to alter the appearance of your image.
In this example, we will apply the Gaussian blur filter to the background by dragging it into the Effects panel. Gaussian blur filters reduce the number of textures (pixels) and sharpen the edges of an image.
Click on the button at the top of the Effects panel to see the options available.
In this screenshot, we can see the Gaussian Blur filter.
Adjust the Gaussian blur as shown below.
Using the keyboard
You can also adjust the blur amount by typing in the Slider.
Press “Enter” to apply the filter.
There are two keyboard shortcuts to adjust the blur filter.
In the Effects panel, click on the button to see the keyboard shortcuts.
You can choose to use the keyboard shortcut “Shift + Ctrl + J” or “Shift + Ctrl + B”.
Use “Ctrl + B” to toggle between the right and left edges.
Use “Ctrl + J” to toggle between the top and bottom edges.
Click on “Settings” to access the keyboard shortcuts.
Use “Shift + Ctrl + B” to toggle between the right and left edges.
Use “Ctrl + B” to toggle between the top and bottom edges.
Use “Ctrl + J” to toggle between the left and right edges.
Use the slider to adjust the amount of blur.
To adjust the amount of blur, use the slider at the bottom of the filter.
Use “Ctrl + A” to select all the pixels inside the rectangular selection.
Use “Ctrl + C” to copy the rectangular selection.
Use “Ctrl + V” to paste the rectangular selection in another part of the image.
Use “Ctrl + X” to crop and remove unnecessary parts of the image.

The present invention relates generally to the production of hydrogen from a gaseous stream. More specifically, the invention relates to a fuel cell system that recovers energy and reduces carbon emissions by converting natural gas into hydrogen and carbonaceous products that are stored in an underground geological formation.
Conventional hydrogen production methods are largely inefficient and have the potential to produce significant emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) to the atmosphere. These methods include steam methane reforming (SMR), coal gasification, and other large-scale thermal combustion processes. Fuel cells, on the other hand, can be placed in proximity to a fuel source, such as a natural gas distribution system, to recover fuel energy and reduce the GHGs emitted. In a fuel cell system the primary energy source is natural gas, which is converted into an H2-rich gas that is burned in a fuel cell to generate electricity.
A known fuel cell system, discussed in applicant’s U.S. Pat. No. 6,884,496 issued on Apr. 26, 2005 and U.S. Pat. No. 7,102,926 issued on Sep. 5, 2006, employs a solar-to-hydrogen fuel cell (SHFC) system to collect solar energy at night or other periods of low-intensity energy and convert the collected energy into fuel for a fuel cell to produce electricity. A steam methane reforming (SMR) system is used to generate hydrogen from natural gas that is stored at a remote underground storage site. Natural gas is injected into a SMR pipeline that is buried at the storage site and a fuel cell system receives a portion of the natural gas produced by the SMR system. The fuel cell system also receives a portion of the electricity produced by the fuel cell that is used for heating the natural gas in the SMR system to a SMR operating temperature. Solar heat is collected by solar panels and used to heat a steam reformer, which contains a catalyst, to convert methane into hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The reformed hydrogen is collected and fed to a fuel cell, where it is used to produce electricity. The generated electricity is supplied to a storage and load-distribution system for sending the electricity to an electrical load. The heat produced by the fuel cell is preferably used to generate steam that is used to supply a steam reforming system that generates additional hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

Particularly, in online communities where users join and interact with each other, it is crucial to provide robust authentication to a large set of users to ensure a strong user privacy. In this work, we propose a rigorous privacy-preserving authentication framework that leverages graphical models to guarantee that a user’s identity, gender, and location information are not disclosed to any unauthorized third party in a social networking site, while maintaining a consistent and easy authentication experience. In particular, our proposed framework provides three secure phases: User anonymity, user privacy, and user login. In the first phase, the identities of users are obfuscated using a local network topology. In the second phase, a user can maintain user privacy by hiding the identity information that are revealed in the first phase. Finally, in the login phase, a user can maintain user privacy while authenticating himself/herself to the system. We prove that the proposed privacy-preserving framework is semantically secure against adversarial and non-adaptive attacks, which are two of the most critical threats. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed framework in practice, and show that it can be applied in a wide range of network application scenarios.’
