What’s New in the Launcher6?

This is a Windows program to help teach how to scan for letters. The program will assign one of the following visual elements to the entry: ‘.jpg’ (an animated, or otherwise dynamically changing graphic of any sort), ‘.bmp’ (a stationary graphic to be used as a graphic cue), ‘.gif’ (a file that will animate), or ‘.png’ (a graphic to be used as a graphic cue).
All of the graphic elements can be assigned a sound, or text file that will play as the graphic is shown to the user. This is typically used with a text to speech function, and is most easily used to demonstrate that the user has typed in the right graphic element.
The program can also be assigned as a registered file type (previous Applications/System/Set Program as Default), so as a result of entering the program as such, it will be loaded automatically on start-up.
You can also assign a program that will be loaded automatically, when the user types in the appropriate graphic element.
You can also assign a link that will lead the user to the Launcher6 setup, that will ask the user to provide additional information, such as the keyboard to be used. This is useful if you have a range of computers, or if you want to restrict the users possible environments (eg, not allow access to Windows) by starting them with Launcher6 first.
The program can also be set to ‘hide me’ (the icon is not displayed).
The program can be set to ‘quit’, and the program shuts down. A program that will also be set as the default file type, it can also be set to ‘hide me’.
If you set the program to allow access to the desktop, the icon will start the program as well (if it exists).

The program is now in full alpha, and is expected to be released within the next few weeks, ready for widespread distribution.
The program offers text to speech options, so will be a useful tool for speech therapists.
