    What’s new:

    Hey all!

    This blog post will go over three of the upcoming features on the Shattered Souls beta client. I’ll go into depth about the models and details of these features, as well as provide an in-depth look at the various different mobs/creatures. Later on in this post I may expand this into an additional blog, talking about end game progression and end-game content and rewards. In this part of the post I cover the three battlegrounds: the Field of Blood, in Forest Fields, at the Temple of Seti, and at Argheletheon. Sadly World of Warcraft models can’t be used to show off any of these locations, but the landscapes are entirely my own creation.

    Mobs

    Below are a few of the various mobs players will encounter and possibly even fight on Shattered Souls beta. Most of these are designed to be a faction’s starting minions to help progress the early stages of the Burning Crusade, as well as some generic NPC classes.

    What is a Monster?

    Monsters are by definition, creatures which inhabit the lands between the realm of the living. The types of creatures that inhabit the Lands Between generally differ from those in the living realm. Some are descended from living creatures while others are native to the Lands Between. No two creatures are created equal. Different creatures can have different body types, strengths, skills, and appearances. All creatures have their strengths and weaknesses, and as an encounter progresses, opponents will trade wounds with one another. When the fight is over, the loser may and most likely will become a prisoner of the winner and may even be purchased as a pet.

    The map shows where players will be navigating across the vast lands between the living realm. The goal of this aspect of Shattered Souls is to provide players with a sense of exploration. In addition to seeing your surroundings, players may encounter a variety of creatures and dangers that will influence your decisions in and out of battle. The rewards and successes gained in the environment are typically more rewarding than killing mobs in dungeons or on the open field battles. Increasingly rare enchanting and mining mats will be found from these encounters as well as interesting loot such as glittering gold, or even murder holes of gore.
