Furthermore, although substantial efforts have been made to date to develop screening technologies, most preclinical anticancer evaluation remains traditional, allowing for little flexibility and customization of the assay. This special report from the Cancer Control Committee of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia aims to highlight the unmet needs in preclinical drug development. Novel technologies have the potential to create new frontiers in drug development, yet the complexity of preclinical drug development remains a major obstacle. The review highlights that, although there are some successful examples of high-throughput screening (HTS) for anticancer drug discovery, these and the traditional methods used to evaluate anticancer drugs have a range of issues that need to be addressed.Estimation of potential intake from intakes of total lipids and lipoproteins.<br \/>\nAn estimate of the expected intake from total lipids is calculated from total lipid intakes. The dose-response relations for the latter are based on modern experimental and epidemiological evidence. The sums of intakes of lipoproteins and other lipids in the diet are also estimated and are presented graphically.
