This technique is often used to add artistic effects to a color image. The simple Lasso tool can be used to select an area of an image and apply a filter to just that area. Colorization is a fairly complex example of this technique.\nPhotoshop has a robust set of tools that can be used to crop and straighten, sharpen and blur, straighten and soften, stretch, flip, and so on. The various tools may seem complicated, but a skilled user can use them to achieve many creative effects. In later chapters we will explain each tool in depth and discuss how to use them for creative purposes.\nUsing Action Presets and Creating and Using Actions\nWhile the basic editing tools of Photoshop are powerful, they are not always the best tool for every task. Often, users need to perform a task and save it as an action so that a sequence of steps may be repeated without having to retouch the image again. Actions enable you to perform repetitive tasks on images and create a series of steps to be performed.\nYou can save a series of steps as an Action or create an Action Library.
