You can activate a group by dragging any of the layers inside it to the Layers palette.\nLayers can be hidden and shown and locked by dragging them into or out of the Layers palette. When a layer is locked, you can’t make changes to the layer. A layer can be unlocked by dragging it out of the Layers palette into the background of the image.\n**Figure 3-1:** Using layers can make changing and rearranging images easier.\nPerforming the basic editing functions\nAlthough Photoshop is a powerful image editing tool, creating, editing, and rearranging images is most likely to be done using the following basic editing functions:\n Adjust Color: You can use the tools in the Adjust Color palette (selected in the Tools panel by default) to adjust image color to a specific value, change the hue, and so on. It also has a regular color-adjustment feature that you may use to enhance the overall look of the image. You can also use the effects in the Color panel. These effects can help you to enhance the look of your image.\n Adjust Lighting: You can use the tools in the Adjust Lighting palette to change the lighting level, hue, tint, and many other looks for the image.\n Adjust Exposure: You can use the tools in the Adjust Exposure palette to adjust the exposure, brightness, and so on of the image.\n Filter: You can use the tools in the Filter palette to apply filters to your images. You can also find the Filters panel under Effects in the Tools<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n In this article, we’ll take a look at Adobe Photoshop Elements’ Import dialogs and keyboard shortcuts, so that you can speed up the workflow and save some time.\nOur goal is to explore the workflow and tips for faster image editing, and how to use every feature you have access to and how to increase your productivity and workflow.\nPhoto editing tips in Photoshop Elements:\nHow do you edit images in Photoshop Elements?
