Its studios are located in Northwest Washington and its transmitter is located in Baltimore, Maryland.\nThe station was known as WCVK-LP until 2005 when it became WLRW-LD. The V stands for “Variety” and the number “20” is a reference to “The 20th Century” which is the most watched television show in the United States at the time the station went on the air.\nHistory\nIn 2002, the station was sold to BCT Media, a subsidiary of Baltimore-based Black Country Television. Following its acquisition, WLRW changed its call letters to WCVK-LP. The station changed its call letters to WLRW-LD on November 25, 2005. The station became Washington’s Fox affiliate and has aired the first nationally-televised weather presentation in the Washington market from The Weather Channel. The channel is now broadcast on subchannel 20.3 of The CW Plus, in addition to cable.\nWLRW also served as the Washington market’s ABC affiliate from October 22, 1988 until April 3, 1989, when the station became a charter affiliate of The WB Television Network. When it replaced the former ABC affiliate WTTG (channel 5) on the latter date, WTTG switched to the local Justice Network (now Antenna TV). WTTG had been a charter affiliate of The WB for the entire 10-year life of the network.
