In their attempt to control Windows Phone 8, Microsoft\u2019s next round of updates has come with new issues. And this is just another random coincidence.<\/p>\n
Starting with version 5.4.529.14 and rolling out with the 5.4.530.1 update, Lumia users will have to launch the update manually because, apparently, Automatic Updates is not working.<\/p>\n
The reason of this is that Windows Phone 8 cannot download and install updates automatically because the server which serves updates is still overloaded from December 13, 2013.<\/p>\n
Microsoft assures us that the problems will be solved soon, but it is not known if the whole plan will be successful or not.<\/p>\n
After the Super Bowl last Sunday, people might start downloading to Windows Phone 8. But not many people do so, due to the uncomfortable updates and their severe performance issues.<\/p>\n
However, the Super Bowl, the Universal Ringtone and the unlocked Galaxy S4 might change everything in five or six months.<\/p>\n
Microsoft also fails to say how long will the update take to arrive, since one update could take up to several days to arrive.<\/p>\n
A complete list of all the problems is made available by Microsoft (via Thurrott.com). At least it seems that the problem they do not wish to talk about is the pause and the reboot behavior on lockscreen under Windows Phone 8.<\/p>\n
In the list Microsoft suggests two ways of fixing the problem, the first being to update the software. The second and more interesting is the third route: skip the update and wait for it to complete.<\/p>\n
We suggest that you choose the second one, because in any case it is much better to not be exposed to bugs if you have no need for them.<\/p>\n
