Download<\/b> 🗸🗸🗸 DOWNLOAD<\/a><\/p> Bergey’s Manual Of Determinative Bacteriology 9th Edition<\/p> PREFACE The ninth edition of Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology \u00c2\u00a0is a departure from past editions that attempted \u00c2\u00a0to merge the separate microbiology of pure culture and general microbiology. Where possible, the pertinent information is now \u00c2\u00a0included in the main portion of the \u00c2\u00a0Manual. The information formerly in sections now \u00c2\u00a0belonging in the purview of the latter, is now spread between \u00c2\u00a0the main work and the Detailed Manual. The practical result is that \u00c2\u00a0the reader is now much better informed of the microbiologic \u00c2\u00a0background than in any previous edition. Nevertheless, all are cautioned that even in the \u00c2\u00a0main portion of the work there are important details that are \u00c2\u00a0only briefly mentioned or that are not mentioned at all. These \u00c2\u00a0are due to the difficulty of describing the complex \u00c2\u00a0structure of the bacterial cell and to the wide range of \u00c2\u00a0conditions that affect it. A brief account is given below \u00c2\u00a0of the changes that have been made in the ninth edition. More \u00c2\u00a0detail will be found in Bergey’s Manual of Determinative \u00c2\u00a0Bacteriology, Ninth Edition (1992).1 \u00c2\u00a0The publication of a manual of this nature is more easily \u00c2\u00a0understood when the beginning is followed by a preface. \u00c2\u00a0The present preface is written by the editor, Dr. Howard M. Bergholz. The \u00c2\u00a0Manual was composed by the editorial staff of the \u00c2\u00a0Editors Guild of the American Society for Microbiology \u00c2\u00a0in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to the staff of the \u00c2\u00a0Editors Guild, the Manual has also \u00c2\u00a0been edited by Drs. Leroy Jones, W. J. Mobley, and \u00c2\u00a0R. H. Anderson. Drs. Mobley and Anderson have been assisting with \u00c2\u00a0some of the sections. \u00c2\u00a0Published by The American Society for Microbiology and Dr. R. H. \u00c2\u00a0Anderson, Publishers, Inc., Exton, PA 19061, ISBN 0-9625110-0-X. The contents of this Manual are in the \u00c2\u00a0public domain, except where the rules of the publishing \u00c2\u00a0society prohibit such use. Anyone is free to make copies and \u00c2\u00a0distribute them freely so long as the source of the\n This manual has no pretense of being a complete treatise on bacteriology. It is designed mainly to serve as a reference in the laboratory.,The three broad divisions of the manual may be roughly regarded as follows: General Principles of Bacteriology, Lists of Bacterial Species, and Laboratory Techniques.\nLaboratory techniques are of three kinds: simple technique, immunological techniques, and other,and in each case are covered in more or less detail.\nPreface to the Ninth Edition\nA feature which will be noticed at once is the fact that the manual is now produced on a larger scale than in previous editions.\n1. The cost of printing has been vastly increased ; and, for this reason, in the interest of economy, the hand binder has been omitted, the report and notes being typeset in a kind of what is called,font.\nSeveral minor corrections have been made in the text and index, and the corrections have been verified.\nAn alphabetical List of authors has been added to the index, and short notes showing the relative importance of the authors have been inserted where desired.\nOf special interest to the bacteriological laboratory are the tables of results, reagents, etc., of the various tests used in bacteriology, along with the corresponding explanations of their use.,\nThe most important revision in the content of the manual is the revision of the B. B. section, which has been made the basis for the,direct identification of the B. B. section in which any new species or group of species may be found. This is explained fully in the Technical Index.\nIt has become impossible to adequately address the labor involved in producing a manual covering such a broad field as bacteriology. The manual describes the general characteristics of some 78 genera and over 1,000 species including those first described.
