Human rights groups have long accused Chinese authorities of clamping down on ethnic Uighurs. \u201cWhenever protest happens, Beijing does exactly what they did in 2012 \u2014 they clamp down on people,\u201d Eunice Yoon, a researcher at Human Rights Watch, told the Guardian.<\/p>\n
