How to put a background image in my custom image field?<\/p>\n

I’ve made my own template (some parts are shared with my previous questions) to create an image field for my content type.
\nMy template works fine, so I’ve got a file in sites\/all\/themes\/ and it outputs correctly.
\nThe problem is that it’s not inserting a background image in the generated html, so when I click on the image field in the form, it brings me to the media upload page with the red x or takes me to the page without a background image.
\nI’ve tried to modify the form, the template, and the admin panel (where I’ve got a “Your modifications will take effect after a server restart”) but nothing works.
\nThere’s two questions here:<\/p>\n

How to insert the background image in the generated html?

Ok, I found out a solution to my second question.
\nIf you’ve got a template that renders a field, then the file is stored into your theme’s folder and you have to do “file_load” to get the file content.
\nIn my case, I’ve got in content-mycontent.tpl.php:

To get the image path, I’ve put this in my custom field:
