Dynamically update value in dropdown – dynamically populated by another dropdown<\/p>\n

Say you have a dropdown called Category which dynamically populates values from a second dropdown called subCategories. The subCategories contains a list of categories.
\nHere is the jquery that does this:
\n$(‘#Category’).change(function(){
\n var value = $(‘#Category’).val();
\n if(typeof value == ‘undefined’) {
\n value = ‘0’;
\n }<\/p>\n

$(‘#subCategories’).empty();
\n $.getJSON(‘\/list\/categories\/’ + value, function(data) {
\n $.each(data, function(k, v) {
\n $(‘#subCategories’).append(” + k + ”);
\n });
\n });
\n});<\/p>\n

This works fine but when I select an option in the subCategories it won’t update the main Categories dropdown.
\nI’m open to suggestions that aren’t ajax (although this is what I’m using now).<\/p>\n

This is because the subCategories dropdown is not being refreshed with the new data. You need to invoke the change event of it or use the jQuery’s select event.
