The Elden Ring is a fantasy action RPG with a multilayered story in which the various thoughts of the characters intersect in the Lands Between. The story begins as a fantasy action RPG with a simple combat system. \nThe story begins in the far future, with mankind being engulfed by the falling empire. In this era, the Elden Empire holds sway over the lands, and war rages as they throw down their foes. The lands are surrounded by a dark mist that whispers of a long-forgotten power, and thick darkness besets the lands. For hundreds of years, this epoch has been frozen in time, and as the old lands shift into oblivion, the Elden have remained powerful even as civilization has left the world to follow the light.
\nOne day, as the world is cast back into chaos, a strong wind begins to blow in the mist, and tremors shake the lands. Fading light penetrates the darkness, and monsters that have been frozen for hundreds of years begin to stir. A young man\u2014a youth who possesses new strength\u2014strikes down the monsters who would bring chaos to the world. The young man becomes the hero who will protect the world of man, and he is called the savior of the lands.
\nEventually, the Elden Empire, engulfed by the falling empire, will also be swept away, and a great and terrible war begins. Only when the world is cast back into chaos will those who wield the power of the Elden Ring finally descend, and will justice be served on the legendary Sovereign.
