Are these instance variables redundant in this code?<\/p>\n

I was trying to understand Java more before I start studying it. I came across this code in the 2nd edition.

I am failing to understand why the method setInt is redundant here. The author says, the following in the book, “Annotating an instance variable \u201ci\u201d in method setInt would be redundant because all values for int are numbers and therefore, the number stored in an instance variable is redundant information.”
\nBut I am not getting it. Can someone please explain to me why this is?<\/p>\n

When you call setInt, a second int is allocated inside of the object so the original i’s value is lost.
\nThe second int is set to 10 which is not redundant.
\nThe original i is set to 10.
\nThis is why you don’t need a setInt method.<\/p>\n
