How to use the Photoshop Elements app:

Using the Elements app
Basically, the app is just a toolbox for your images, and you’ll have tools like the usual selections, layers, paths, etc.
You’ll have a white canvas like with Photoshop, and you have to choose which tool you want to use by clicking on the buttons on the toolbox.
There are a few things to know when opening an image with Elements:
You can use a RAW image from your smartphone, a JPG image or even a Photoshop file
You’ll have an option like “Smooth skin” under the “Enhance” tab to make the image more detailed, or “Remove noise” to remove some noise from the image.
There’s an “Effects” tab for adding extra polish like effects such as high-pass, blur, etc.
Using the Layers tab
There are a few layers you need to know when using the Layers tab in the app.
You can edit the actual selection using the “lasso” tool, draw circles, rectangles or freeform shapes using the “Ellipse, Line or polygon” tools.
You can move, rotate and zoom the image as you want, and you can add masks and paths.
You can create new layers by clicking on the “New layer” button in the Layers tab.

While most of the time you’ll be working with one or more images, it’s a good idea to start organizing your layers into groups to make it easier to manage and work with them at once. Selecting the Layers icon in the Layers palette, as shown in the below image, will create a new layer with the current selection and select all your objects. This will allow you to move, resize, etc. all your layers at once.
Selecting the layer icon again will disable the current selection and turn it back into a normal selection.
You can also use keyboard shortcuts to select the Layers icon. The following keyboard shortcuts will select your Layers icon in the Layers palette:

You can also right-click (Mac) or Ctrl+Click (Windows) to select the Layers icon.
For those times when you have to select multiple layers, you can use the Layer Masks option in the Layers palette. Click the icon to the right of the Layer List, and you’ll have the option to select multiple layers at the same time.
Selecting Layer Masks will turn the selected layers of your image into a mask, as shown below.
If you decide you no longer want to use the Layers option, it’s easy to re-enable it. This can be done by clicking in the layer list again.
