Opening images in GIMP
The GIMP uses layers to modify, transform, and manipulate raster images. Layers are built in order to give you the ability to apply edits to them. Layers come in three forms:
* **Greyscale:** The original image is flattened into one big, flat layer.

* **RGB:** The original image is converted into a RGB image with three separate layers that allow you to manipulate each color individually.

Although TGF beta 1 has potent growth-inhibitory effects on keratinocyte cultures, keratinocytes only exhibit 50% of the growth-inhibitory response of fibroblasts on TGF beta 1 stimulation. TGF beta 1 reduces the rate of keratinocyte proliferation following DNA synthesis by approximately 10% in vitro at a dose as low as 0.01 ng/ml. However, at higher doses, it reduces the cell number by 25%. DNA synthesis can also be inhibited by TGF beta 1 in adult rat dermal fibroblasts, although less effectively than in primary cultures of human epidermal keratinocytes.
