This is an important tutorial for those of you who plan on building their own version of
a PEAR installer. Whether you are new to PEAR or experienced you may find this tool to be
helpful.
I’ve been creating and installing packages using pear with no problems. Now I have to
install a package that’s written using pear and I’m having trouble.
The package (Stashbox) is written with a “pear configure”, “pear build.php”, “pear package.xml”,
and a “pear install” command. These are found in the Stashbox-x.x.x.zip file.
The problem that I’m having is that Stashbox wants to unzip the package in a
permanent directory rather than in the current directory.
I do not want to create a PEAR package and then move it to another directory. I have
another package that’s already in a directory but it requires this one to be built and installed
in a different directory. I have not succeeded at doing this.
The installation process of Stashbox should not create a permanent directory. The installation
process should set the data directory, the lib directory, and the bin directory where the
Perl files reside.

Can’t seem to run this shell command on Alpine linux
I’m working on a python app that needs to run some basic shell commands on the command line. I’m having a few issues running them. Everything seems to be working fine on my computer. When I run the same commands in one of the containers I’m building (alpine 3.10), I have issues.
I’ve tried both the builtin shell and using the shell command to call a shell script inside my python script.
When I attempt to do the following:
shell = subprocess.Popen([“bash”, “shell.sh”], stdout=subprocess.PIPE, shell=True)
I get this error:
Process finished with exit code 1
bash: /shell.sh: No such file or directory
When I do it this way:
command = [“bash”, “shell.sh”]
shell = subprocess.Popen(command, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, shell=True)
I get this error:

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve also tried adding /bin to my PATH but that doesn’t help either.
