Iconer Architecture:
Iconer contains two user interfaces: the Windows-based iconer and the console-based editor. The two interfaces are identical and are each controlled by their own command line parser, and the application is compiled with a single code base. The file which describes the application is iconer.ini. This file contains all the information necessary to properly edit, run, and convert the application.
The application is set up for easy use.

Supported Image Formats:
Iconer supports four image formats, each of which has its own subtle difference.

This is a native format created by the program. You can use the application for creating icons in native size (16×16, 32×32,…). To create a native format image in Iconer, you load an image file using the “Image File” menu.
Iconer Portable Image Format:
This is a portable file format used only by the program. You can use the application for creating icons of any size. To create a portable image in Iconer, you load an image file with the “Image File” menu.
Iconer 16-bit Bitmap Image Format:
This is an image format used by the program and by many other programs. To create an image of this type you must load the image file using the “Image File” menu.
Iconer 8-bit Bitmap Image Format:
This is an image format used by many programs. To create an image of this type you must load the image file using the “Image File” menu.
Iconer 24-bit Bitmap Image Format:

Iconer is an icon application for Windows. It is a simple utility that lets you create or edit icons and cursors.
Iconer has a toolbar mode which lets you create toolbar bitmaps. The bitmaps are 32bit color (8bits per color pixel) bitmaps with size 32×32, but you can create anything you want to with the tool in toolbar mode. If your toolbar supports a few extra icons,
Tabs are used. Tabs have a toolbar and one icon. The bitmap for the tab has nothing on the first two rows, and only the tab icon on row 3.
Icons can be given names and sizes. Icons can be given names, sizes, cursors and Tabs. Size is 32×32, 16×16 and 8×8 bitmaps. Some sizes have a special code and names in Iconer. For example if you give an icon with size 24×24, Iconer automatically gives the 24×24 bitmap the name 24Bit. The program has a basic import function and export for ICNS and PNG. However, PNG format is not editable and you’ll have to use the export ICNS form to use in the other programs.

Editor is an ASCII based editor and notepad with tabbed page support. It is based on classic edit line editor with some modifications. It is simple enough that you won’t need a manual to get going. Editor supports command line, script files, and DDE.
