Compressors with distinct frequency responses
The Tri-Comp features three 1176 compressors with different pre-amps and filters.
The Black out compressor is mainly a gate compressor. A similar effect could be achieved by using a combined gate/compressor.
The mid-cut compressor is a more hi-fi alternative to the mid-side compressor. Both processes can be heard in the audio demo.
The high pass filter, bypass compressor and high shelf compressor are only used in the fully parametrized view of the plugin.
In the graphs, the compressor is active without any pre-amp or low-pass filter.
Tri-Comp MIDI
Tri-Comp is a VST & AU plugin.
It can be used as a standalone or as a sonically optimized midi plugin.
All channels from the VST host in receive low-pass filter/pre-amp and are handled with unique presets for each band.
VST and AU
The Tri-Comp comes in both VST & AU versions. The AU version has a dedicated control for the compression level and the threshold.
The plugin is very easy to use and can be easily adjusted to fit into your existing DAW.
Stand-alone
The stand-alone version of Tri-Comp works with any Audio Unit host or embedded host.
This version allows you to draw very deep sound design modifications into any instrument.
At any moment, you can break out of any preset or adjust a filter or compressor to exactly the sound you want to achieve.
Unlimited settings
Tri-Comp makes it possible for you to adjust pretty much anything.
The compressor section includes 32 individual parameters, and you can always combine these with additional routings, for example the high pass filter and bypass compressor.

Boost increases the available headroom for each compressor by increasing the signal level from the source by the value indicated on the knob.
The boosts are distributed across all the compressors to offer a consistent increase of headroom.
Wherever a compressor is turned on, an expansion of a factor 5 is applied to all the signals from the source.
This means that the ratio between the boost and signal level in the incoming audio is expanded by 5.
Noise Gate Filter
Being a limiter, Tri-Comp includes a noise gate feature.
A limiter is a tool that reduces the dynamic range of the signal, for example in order to ease final processing or to preserve the audio quality of its peak values.
Its main function is to protect the audio against overloaded circuits in transport devices, routers, DSL modems, etc, while optimizing the signal to make it ready for processing.
There are a number of problems in making a single limiter work for all these different situations.
Trilions of methods and tricks are available for this, and it’s just a matter of time until all of these are exploited by a competitor with a slightly different approach and less-featured device.
But, if we are to avoid competition and better services for our users, it’s time to do things the right way, and that’s what we have done.
Tri-Comp includes two different types of noise gate filters:
Tri-Comp’s first and most sophisticated type is a 32-band 8-pole Bessel-style low pass filter with a cutoff frequency of 45kHz.
This class of filters, although less complex, offer a much better protection against the overloads than the most common type of such a filter, a 5-pole Butterworth filter, which is not adaptive and doesn’t offer a smooth transition between bands.
The second type of noise gate filters is a 5-pole Butterworth filter with a cutoff frequency of 22kHz.
