    If you’re looking for a fantasy game to sink a little time into, one that offers your future self a comforting promise of a new, never played before sensation, the recently released RPG Elden Ring: Tarnished should be at the top of your list. The trademark aesthetics of the game, based on a beautiful world that feels a bit like a mix of the likes of Skyrim and Far Cry, promises to deliver on just about every angle of a good fantasy RPG experience, and even though I’ve had this gem on my “dream list” since its initial reveal, I felt it was long overdue to bring you the results of my first play.

    So, moving right along with the game, first off, I must say that the game pretty much lives up to all of the promises that its announcement made. The game is a fresh take on the Fantasy RPG genre, and feels almost like the grand-scale of the format was taken out and replaced with a more intimate one, where your big guns aren’t necessarily your main source of… well, “fun,” but they can be if you want to use them. Your basic FPS combat is snappy and responsive, and while the feel of your character does feel light and rather floaty, it’s a perfect fit for the combat style of the game.

    The story is also as intense as it needs to be, with your character getting tossed into a situation where they have to make some tough choices to either live a long and fulfilling life, or end up battered and broken by their own doing. From the opening cinematic, I knew what to expect, and it delivered right on the money. The game’s soundtrack is also excellent, with a lot of the tunes that make you want to seek out the soundtrack, and is even a bit of a blast to listen to.

    The world of Elden Ring: Tarnished also ends up being the game’s strongest point. Unlike most fantasy games where you’re tasked with saving the world or doing some other kind of grand scale. The game focuses on your character having to make their way through a world filled with the remnants of wars, each with a story of its own, and each with their own associated goal to try and get to the end of.
