When I first started playing TARNISHED, my mindset was one of optimism. The game looked great, the content was amazing and the last game that I played on my phone before TARNISHED was a fantastic AAA game. I was definitely looking forward to playing it, so when I encountered problems with the game it was a bit of a letdown. These problems are problematic in a game that has been out for over a month.
The first issue with the game was with the lack of communication. I was reading all the reviews on here and I didn’t find any other issues, but upon playing the game itself I found that there was one massive issue that I can’t get past. The game has a horrible UI. I was jumping between several different elements on the screen at once with no way to actually tell what I was looking at and I couldn’t even see the camera. It just felt way too cluttered and is a problem for the whole game. I suppose that maybe the UI has just been neglected for far too long since it’s a part of the game, but I still can’t find any way to fix it. The videos that I’ve seen are also very misleading because the UI there has a bit of a design where you’re moving the camera to the top left of the screen as opposed to the bottom of the screen with a little arrow pointing towards it, so the camera isn’t actually targeting the things that you’re looking at. I realize that for some people this might not be a problem, but for someone that hasn’t used other games with this UI you really need a very good education about the games UI. The UI for the game also has a very small size and I found that when I was playing on my 6.2 inch screen it was impossible for me to see everything in the map. This caused a huge issue because I had to use it during missions, exploration and battles. I had no real idea where to go at times or what I was supposed to be doing. I kept getting stuck in a mission with no way to finish it and ending up being punished for it.
