Selecting the tools you need

In case anyone’s interested, I have a theory as to why the long-term gain for “fintech”-type companies has been so high.
If you read my post on “Why FinTech Companies are Happier than the Next Generation,” you’ll know that I believe that the acceleration of big data, big data machine learning, and the growing trend toward the implementation of finance in every other part of the business (including the retail sector) has led to an unintended consequence:
The Fintech companies that are actually solving (or making) money are the ones that are practicing “finanomics”

But most companies are practicing “banking”

I believe that most companies, when they think about the relationship between financial decisions and the economic system, are finding that there’s more friction.
As in, they’re finding that they’re operating with an inability to make solid decisions because they’re unable to follow the finance fundamentals. And for them, this is kind of the point of the company. It’s because they’re trying to run a business, and that means that they’re trying to use other businesses as a means of success. And that’s not “finanomics.” It’s not a way to manage the financial side of the business. It’s a way to make the business exist.
At the core of that, there are three principles that are essential for making a business successful. And I find that when companies don’t practice those three principles, they’re not doing themselves any favors when it comes to creating a successful business.
At the core, I believe that “Making Money” = “Making a Profit.” It’s the key to any business, and it’s also the key to making a business successful
